Finding peace in the time of chaos
The one thing about summer is that you see people step away from their phones, social media, and the internet, simply living in the moment. Something is grounding about that, a reminder that life is still happening outside the constant doom scrolling.
Even more importantly, in this political climate, you find resilience and hope among the chaos of the news that can feel overwhelming and traumatizing. Like everyone else, I also feel hopeless sometimes and frustrated that it seems only those with bad intentions are winning.
“Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself-and be lenient to everybody else.”
― Henry Ward Beecher
In moments like that, I take my camera and go for a walk. I let myself document the world around me, searching for signs of humanity, connection, and quiet strength. Photography becomes my way of reminding myself that beauty and truth still exist, even in the most challenging times.
I hope these photographs bring you a sense of relief from the stress that surrounds us. For me, they are a pause in the noise, a reminder to slow down and notice the small, honest moments that can still make the world feel gentle. If they can offer you even a fraction of the comfort they give me, then sharing them is worth it.
